| What is Windows 2000? |
|
Windows 2000 was the next operating
system following Windows 98SE.
Windows 2000 offered many improved
features including greater security and a more functional plug and
play feature. |
Windows 2000 and
Windows XP are essentially the same operating system. Here are some considerations if
you're trying to decide which version to use:
-
Windows
2000 has lower system requirements then
Windows XP and
has a simpler interface.
-
Windows
2000 has been out longer than XP and most
of the common problems and security
holes have been uncovered and fixed.
-
Third-party software and hardware
products that aren't yet
XP-compatible
may be compatible with Windows 2000;
check the manufacturers of your devices
and applications for
XP support before
you upgrade.
